WWE: 10 Things Vince McMahon Could Do To Get CM Punk Back
10. Offer Punk A Future Mania-Closing Main Event
CM Punk has often stated that his only remaining goal in pro wrestling is to be the show closing main event at a Wrestlemania. It's the ultimate honour for a WWE superstar. Closing Mania (and winning) is the true recognition that you are the best wrestler in the business. It means you are commercially and creatively the hottest thing going. A worker with the pride of CM Punk demands this recognition - because truth be told he really is the best. This lack of a show closing Mania spot really bothers Punk. It explains why he was so frustrated with WWE creative in 2011, admitting on his DVD documentary that it hurt to see someone as untalented as The Miz closing Wrestlemania 27. Punk almost quit the company over that. Fast forward to 2014 and Punk is again looking at a Wrestlemania where he won't get to close the show. With his contract up in July and stars now emerging ahead of him, Punk has perhaps gave up on his Mania pipe dream. And the only place to go from there is home - everything else he has ever wanted to achieve he has done. Hence, if Vince McMahon was to offer Punk a guaranteed show closing Wrestlemania main event (at any point in the next 3 years) Punk would probably bite his hand off and re-commit straight away. Would the boss go for it? Possibly. He must be acutely aware that this is Punk's desire, with Triple H filling the boss in that it would be a sure fire way to get the former Champion tied down. Why wouldn't Vince want Punk to close a Mania? The Straight Edge Superstar is the best wrestler in the world and would guarantee a brilliant main event.
