WWE: 10 Triple H Feuds That Totally Sucked

9. Curtis Axel In 2013

This one is a bit weird, but it definitely warrants inclusion because it's hard to know what WWE was thinking with it. Hunter was coming off a loss to Brock Lesnar at Extreme Rules 2013 (not a great feud, but not that bad either) and was feeling the effects of things the next night. The night after ERules 2013, Paul Heyman announced his new client was Curtis Axel, who was the former Michael McGillicutty. A match was set up with Axel going against Hunter. It made sense because of Hunter's issues with Heyman's client Lesnar. When they had their match on the May 20, 2013 edition of Raw, Hunter ended the night sitting in a chair because of a concussion angle. The idea was that he was feeling the effects of his match with Lesnar. Three weeks later, Hunter faced Axel on Raw again. His concerned father in law Vince McMahon stopped the match from really happening because he didn't want Hunter getting hurt. Then Hunter said the match was restarted as an Ironman match. McMahon ended up taking the ring bell away. That was the end of that. It seemed like the whole thing was just another McMahon/HHH ego fest. It was all about them. They should have had Hunter put over Axel by getting pinned rather than doing two non-finishes that led to nothing. It would have gone a long way in making Axel look like more of a star. Instead, he flopped as a singles wrestler.
