WWE: 13 Worst Ever Tag Team Gimmicks In Wrestling History
2. Spirit Squad
Dolph Ziggler is undoubtedly one of the most talented wrestlers in the WWE right now, and has managed to get over as a firm favourite despite one of the most ridiculous names in WWE history - and he also has a haunted past, as he was once a member of one of the stupidest tag teams in WWE history. The Spirit Squad were a group of male cheer leaders, who technically were a group of five, but in winning the Tag Team Championships they easily earn their place on this list. The spirit squad would come to the ring with cardboard loud hailers, wearing matching outfits, and leap around the ring doing apparent cheer leader moves. It was just painful to watch, but within three months of their introduction they won the Tag Team Championships from Big Show and Kane. They instigated the Freebird Rule, whereby any two members of the group could defend the belts.Their reign lasted 216 days, a huge length of time, which, to put it into perspective, meant they have held the Tag Team Championships longer than The Legion of Doom, Edge and Christian or The Hardys. That is a horrifying statistic. Eventually the fans had the last laugh, as DX packed The Spirit Squad into a packing crate and shipped them back to OVW, WWE's developmental program.
