WWE: 13 Worst Ever Tag Team Gimmicks In Wrestling History

10. Beverley Brothers

Mike Enos and Wayne Bloom teamed up in the late eighties, after their rise in AWA and WCW had been received positively, and there was a definite buzz around this tag team. They had already been tag team champions in the AWA, and when they were picked up by the WWE there was some excitement that they might recapture their success for the company. Unfortunately the WWE saddled Enos and Bloom with a ludicrous gimmick that nobody could have survived: they were to play the parts of two spoiled rich brats, named the Beverly Brothers, playing on the popularity of the original Beverley Hill 902010, because there's nothing wrestling fans love better than team social issues. Equally, it is incredibly unlikely fans of that show would be excited by a pair of men in purple tights and matching capes. As if the team wasn't bizarre enough they were paired with The Genius, a persona of Lanny Poffo who was a supposed academic, complete with gown and mortar board, whose arrival alongside the Beverley Brothers always made for a peculiar sight. Naturally the WWE failed to play on the popularity of Beverley Hills 902010, and inevitably the gimmick did not work, and though they had some high profile feuds they never won the tag team gold.
