WWE: 15 Best Sheamus Matches (So Far)

6. Vs. Mark Henry (SummerSlam; August 14, 2011)

WWE.comWWE.comAfter spending his entire WWE career as a heel, Sheamus embarked on a slow burning face turn in the summer of 2011 when he began feuding with Mark Henry. At the time, Henry was on an absolute roll and was in the midst of a resurgence of his career. From Big Show to Kane to Vladimir Kozlov, Henry was taking out everyone who stepped foot in his path of destruction. One individual who refused to be Henry's latest victim, however, was Sheamus. Sure, Henry and Sheamus have had matches against each other in the past, but all of them paled in comparison to their blockbuster encounter at SummerSlam. It was a meeting of a behemoths, the irresistible force taking on the immovable object so to speak. Sheamus had felt fresh for the first in ages and Henry was just finding his stride as a heel, so it was a match that was highly anticipated by fans and an appropriate addition to the SummerSlam card. Up until this point, Henry had yet to have a truly memorable match. He was by no means a bad worker, but none of his matches were considered "show stealers" by any meas. That changed on this swarming August night when Sheamus and Henry delivered one of the best bouts in either man's career. They developed instant chemistry with each other and captured the imagination of everyone in the audience within minutes. They kept their match simple yet effective and the fans were desperate to see Sheamus be the one to take Henry down a peg. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HMrJ7ha7ddI Sheamus put forth a strong effort against The World's Strongest Man, but it was simply not enough. The brutal brawl spilled to the outside of the ring where Henry tackled Sheamus through the barricade in what was an awe-inspiring spot. Henry returned to the ring in time to beat the 10 count, thus being named the victor. Their feud that summer unfortunately never reached a conclusion, but this match was a sneak preview of what both competitors were capable of whenever they locked up.
