WWE: 15 Best Sheamus Matches (So Far)

5. Vs. Randy Orton (Hell In A Cell; October 3, 2010)

WWE.comWWE.comAt 2010's Fatal 4-Way pay-per-view, Sheamus captured the WWE Championship for the second time in his career. He'd reign as champion for the remainder of the summer with successful title defenses against the likes of John Cena at Money in the Bank, Randy Orton at SummerSlam, and Zack Ryder on Raw (yes, really). When it came time for Sheamus to drop the strap, it occurred at September's Night of Champions in a six-man Elimination match when Orton pinned Sheamus to win the title. Orton and Sheamus faced off in lackluster matches at that year's Royal Rumble and SummerSlam events, so fans were skeptical regarding their championship rematch at Hell in a Cell. Despite that, Orton and Sheamus were determined to have their best match yet and given the circumstances, they succeeded. It might not have been your typical Hell in a Cell match, but take that steel structure away and you had yourself one heck of a wrestling match. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZwMbQhb2-z4 They fought for well over 20 minutes with the momentum constantly shifting between the two competitors. Sheamus, after a lackluster first year in WWE, finally proved himself as a top-tier star in his showing against Orton. It was certainly his best match of his WWE tenure up to that point as it made fans look at him in a completely new light as an in-ring threat. Sheamus would come up short in that contest, but he'd no longer be perceived as a coward past this point.
