2. Pipebomb (27th June 2011)
http://youtu.be/2Is9SdaC-X8 Last summer, CM Punk was growing dissatisfied with the direction of WWE and his position in the company. It became common knowledge that Punk was considering leaving when his contract ran out, so he was given a chance to vent at the end of Raw. After smashing John Cena through a table, Punk grabbed a microphone and sat on the stage cross-legged in a Stone Cold Steve Austin t-shirt and cut the most blistering promo that had been seen in the WWE in years. With every word reeking of revolution, Punk blasted the WWE in a promo akin to the realness he brought to his Summer of Punk in Ring of Honor. Punk got everything out of his system, from being treated differently due to being a Paul Heyman Guy, to running down Vince McMahon, Triple H and Stephanie for the way they run their company. It was one of the calmest, yet incredibly honest promos that has ever been on WWE TV. Watching it back for this article, I still got chills listening to Punk talk about Vince surrounding himself with yes men. Punk told the truth, and to WWEs credit, they let him. With one five minute promo, Punk made himself the most important wrestler in the world. Unfortunately over the coming months, WWE blew all the momentum in the storyline with Triple H and Kevin Nash. Nash and HHH couldnt hang with Punk on the mic, and completely missed the point of his promos. Thankfully, Punk didnt falter and continued to perform in the ring. His promos may not have come anywhere near the one he made on this night, but he is still one of the best in the world.
