WWE: 20 Changes That MUST Happen On The Road From WrestleMania 30

11. A General Manager With Substance

When the idea of brand General Managers was introduced in 2002, fans witnessed the return of Eric Bischoff and Stephanie McMahon as the respective GMs of RAW and Smackdown! Both had charisma, presence and gave the fans the believable impression that they had complete control over their shows. Though in recent years we have been lumbered with mere caricatures like Vickie Guerrero, Brad Mattox and John Laurinaitis. The result has meant that the WWEs flag ship shows have lost credible GMs and with them the opportunity to create the illusion that each show is not being run from corporate offices in Conneticut. However in 2014 the WWE fans are lumbered with GMs who are annoying, 'excuse me!' entertainers, undermined continuously with each appearance of a McMahon or indeed Triple H. The WWE is often referred to as childish, and the demise of the serious and credible GM is often referred to as evidence of this. In order to have a sensible on screen GM the WWE must change its obvious inclination to appoint 'entertaining puppets' as GMs and instead look to replicate the controversial but equally brilliant past GM choice of Eric Bischoff. Perhaps a legend could work the GM role, such as Ric Flair, Shawn Michaels or maybe Hulk Hogan! In any event, the WWE must change the concept of the GM role from entertainer to actual GM with the subsequent withdrawal of McMahon and Helmsely TV presence, or discard the concept of a GM altogether.
