WWE: 20 Changes That MUST Happen On The Road From WrestleMania 30

12. Develop And Promote Rivalries

There is nothing more annoying than the WWE failing to create and promote sustainable rivalries, after all rivalries have proven to be the cornerstone of the long term success of the WWE. Steve Austin vs. The Rock, Bret Hart vs. Shawn Michaels and Hulk Hogan vs. Andre The Giant are three historic rivalries that steered the WWE franchise into its next generation. However in an era recently termed as 'The Reality Era' by Triple H, it is worrying that the WWE is devoid of believable and meaningful rivalries. Of course we have The Authority vs Daniel Bryan, but this rivalry is very gimmicky and is stereotypical in portraying the 'blue collar' man of the people in Bryan fighting against the authority of the man with wealth and status in Triple H. It is less of a wrestling rivalry and more about themes and ideas, which might work for casual fans but simply is not something die hard long term wrestling fans can buy into and actually believe in. If the WWE could change its stance on how it builds wrestling rivalries, by putting wrestling as the prefix to everything it promotes and builds towards, then fans might once again relive classic wrestling rivalries in a modern wrestling era. In short, perhaps the WWE Creative Team's major priority change is to proactively engineer a product with wrestling rivalries at its absolute core. Failure to do so could, in the long term, prove to be a significant factor in the perceived stagnation of the wider WWE brand.
