WrestleMania VI - Passing The Torch
The Ultimate Warrior had been positioned as an unpredictable beast, inspiring a reaction from the fans that could only be compared to that inspired by Hulk Hogan. But you know what the most remarkable part of this showdown is? Hogan dialed it right DOWN. For all of Warrior's frenzied movements, Hogan's are calm and confident. His decision to walk to the ring, rather than his usual pace with dramatic gestures, made Warrior's approach seem all the more crazed. Even more intriguing was Hogan's demeanour once he got to the ring; he appeared to be trash-talking Warrior, but looked almost serene doing so. This was the Ultimate Warrior at the height of his career, and Hogan did an admirable job of making it more interesting than trying to compete with the same level of energy. "Feel the electricity! You could cut it with a knife!" Those classic words were always reserved for the most special of events, and this title-for-title match was about to blow minds. It was no mat classic, but the emotion invested in this characters made every move MATTER. When Warrior challenged Hogan to a Greco-Roman knuckle lock, they made it look and feel like every single second was charged with adrenaline. It was contagious, and set the tone for the rest of that match.
