4. Stone Cold Steve Austin: The Bottom Line On Most Popular Superstar Of All Time

Stone Cold Steve Austin- the biggest draw in wrestling history and (as the DVD cover says) arguably the most popular WWE superstar of all time has had multiple DVD features made documenting his career in the wrestling business. And this DVD feature while covering pretty much the same ground doesn't come across as boring or repetitive at any point and actually makes for a very interesting watch. At 2 and a half hours, the documentary portion may seem a little lengthy on paper, but is actually a very fun experience which thoroughly covers every aspect of his in-ring career.
The Good: Steve Austin takes you on a trip down memory lane through his entire career. He's an excellent narrator, and after several years seems in a good place from where he can objectively reflect on his career without any frustration or bitterness getting in the way. He's calm, reflective and completely himself which if you've heard his awesome podcast you know is the best thing. He pulls no punches and is very frank and shoots straight from the hip as he relives every moment of his career, talks about his inspirations and influences, people who got him started in the business, his frustrations early on in his career, and on the struggle he endured to ultimately achieve success. For Attitude Era fans, this DVD contains a lot of great content with Austin discussing the legendary Austin-McMahon feud and his relationship with the Rock and how it helped produce some iconic matches. After you watch this documentary you arrive at the conclusion that there is very little difference between Steve Austin the man and Steve Austin the character and the latter is just a louder, more exaggerated form of the former but the spirit remains the same. And that is the best part of this documentary.
The Not-So-Good: The problem I had with the documentary is that it focuses almost exclusively on Austin's in-ring career and doesn't tell you much his personality and life outside the business. This is where the other DVD's on this list scored higher than this one because each of them provide a very comprehensive picture of the featured Superstar both in-ring and outside the ring. That is the one thing lacking from this DVD but otherwise this is a terrific watch.
