To make Damien Sandow joining Evolution work, he'd absolutely have to be given an edge to his character. He'd have to drop the characteristics of his 1980's Lanny Poffo Genius act. Most importantly, he'd have to stop losing every single week. Some may argue that Dolph Ziggler is more deserving of a spot in Evolution, but it may be too late for him. After all, he's been losing every week on TV for almost seven years. Sandow is at about two. He's also a couple years younger than The Showoff, and seems to have taken many less crazy bumps, which could increase his longevity in the sport. What Sandow also has, that most on the roster doesn't, is a natural confidence on the mic. As we saw on Raw, he can be entertaining just by insulting the crowd for a few minutes and then getting punched in the mouth. Don't get me wrong, at first, his joining the group probably wouldn't go over so well. It could feel like Curtis Axel debuting as the newest Paul Heyman guy. With a little work, and some actual in-ring victories, that could begin to change. He could start to fit in alongside Hunter, Batista and Orton. HHH could start by saying how he respected him by being brave enough to interrupt the DX reunion at Raw 1000. He now wants to mold him into one of them. Sandow is a good wrestler who is capable of displaying a more vicious side, as we saw when he attempted to cash in his Money in the Bank contract on John Cena. We need that from him every week. With some great promos, and key victories, Sandow could be a solid addition to a reformed Evolution.
As Rust Cohle from True Detective said "Life's barely long enough to get good at one thing. So be careful what you're good at."
Sadly, I can't solve a murder like Rust...or change a tire, or even tie a tie. But I do know all the lyrics to Hulk Hogan's "Real American" theme song and can easily name every Natural Born Thriller from the dying days of WCW. I was once ranked 21st in the United States in Tetris...on the Playstation 3 version...for about a week.
