WWE: 7 Wrestling Sons That Surpassed Their Fathers

7. "Mr Perfect" Curt Hennig

When wrestling fans discuss the best WWE performers of all time that were never WWE Champion, one of the first names that comes to mind is that of "Mr. Perfect" Curt Hennig. His father is Larry "The Axe" Hennig, who was a wrestler that started in the late 1950s and retired in the mid 1980s right before the WrestleMania era began. For a few years, both Larry and Curt were a part of the AWA when Curt was just starting out. Curt was able to go to WWE and establish himself there. He was a tremendous all around performer capable of having great matches with anybody and the Mr. Perfect gimmick fit him perfectly because he had the charisma to pull it off. His matches with the likes of Bret Hart and the British Bulldog helped make the Intercontinental Title a coveted championship that has made performers look like bigger stars for holding it. He really should have been elevated to the WWE Title because he really could do it all. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SEt1KcchW7s Will his son Curtis Axel have a better career than Mr. Perfect? It doesn't seem likely at this point although Axel is proving himself to be a valuable performer in WWE too. It was very cool to see Larry Hennig accompanying Axel to the ring at Elimination Chamber in Minnesota earlier this year. It's a shame that Curt is no longer with us so he could be a part of moments like that too.
