WWE: 9 Most Conceivable Threats To The Undertaker's Wrestlemania Streak
3. Shawn Michaels For A Third Time
When I think of The Undertaker at Wrestlemania, the first thing that pops into my head isn't the streak, it is the all time classic he had with Shawn Michaels at Wrestlemania 25. WWE capitalized on this classic by doing it again a year later in a HBK retirement angle at Mania 26, and cashed in again when HBK refereed Taker vs Hunter at Mania 28. Still, this feud is so good, WWE could easily get away with doing a third match. I (and many others) would be sold instantly. Not only could they do it again, but it would be a strong contender as the bout that finally does end the streak surely it would be third time lucky for Michaels? Fans wouldn't believe he has come back to lose yet again, his returning challenge would be taken seriously amongst the WWE universe. It would perhaps be the ultimately fitting ending to the streak if Taker's greatest opponent finally got the victory. Maybe a return this year against Daniel Bryan will facilitate Michaels reintegration into WWE competition and a Wrestlemania 31 "Michaels vs Undertaker 3" main event will be the closure to wrestling's greatest fairytale. Everyone knows that all great epics come as a trilogy. On a side note, in the Austin vs Rock Wrestlemania trilogy Austin won the first two encounters, before The Rock finally got his win in the last contest in what was the last match of Austin's career. Just seems fitting, doesn't it?
