With WWE delivering Clash at the Castle from Cardiff, Wales last September, and with Money in the Bank to take place from London this July, there's now news that the market leader is taking its Backlash PLE to Puerto Rico in two months' time.

As announced by WWE, not only will Backlash take place from San Juan's Coliseo de Puerto Rico José Miguel Agrelo on Saturday 6 May, but the Premium Live Event will be hosted by Bad Bunny.

This marks the first time that WWE will run a major show from Puerto Rico since New Year's Revolution back in January 2005, where the main event had Triple H winning the World Heavyweight Title in an Elimination Chamber contest.

In a press release revealing this news, Bad Bunny said:

"In 2005 when I was a kid, I wasn't able to attend New Year's Revolution at el Coliseo. Finally, 18 years later WWE returns to the island with a massive event and this time I won't miss it."

That same press release also had the following comments from WWE Chief Contender Officer Paul Levesque:

"We're excited to bring Backlash to San Juan as the demand for WWE premium live events outside of the continental United States continues to grow. Bad Bunny is one of the world's most-popular entertainers and nowhere is that more evident that in his native Puerto Rico."

In terms of running PLEs outside of the United States, Backlash will take place the same month that WWE will next return to Saudi Arabia. While Backlash is set for 6 May, 27 May will see WWE in Jeddah for what's been labelled The King and Queen of the Ring.

Of course, before either Backlash or The King and Queen of the Ring, there's the small matters of WrestleMania 39 which takes place across the weekend of 1 and 2 April.
