WWE Backlash 2025: 7 Nightmares That Could Come True

2. The Rock Is Completely Ignored Again

People have been cracking jokes about Cena being invisible for years, but he must've let ol' Dwayne Johnson borrow his invisibility cloak for the past couple of months. That's the only reasonable explanation for why The Rock has been totally absent from everything WWE since Elimination Chamber in early-March. Genuine question: Why hasn't he been mentioned by major players?!

Rocky was literally responsible for John Cena's heel turn at Chamber, and he stabbed Cody Rhodes in the back that night too. Christ, Travis Scott has been putting in more of a pro wrestling shift than Dwayne, which just isn't on. Also, what the hell is up with Rock talking to everyone in the media like he's spoon-feeding obviousness? We know the biz is a work, Johnson - just get back in the thick of a storyline you're literally involved in!

There's a good chance that WWE will ignore this elephant in the room yet again at Backlash by failing to mention The Rock's role in turning Cena heel or getting the ball rolling on the end of Cody's title reign. That'd suck, especially if Travis is there and he isn't.

Again.

It was borderline unforgivable that neither Cena nor Rhodes even mentioned Rocky during the build towards their 'Mania main event, and he's still absent from the storytelling during the aftermath. There are too many unanswered questions. How did Rock convince John to go rogue? What does Cody think about it all? Who told Scott to stroll to the ring like The Undertaker and gobble up airtime?

Come on, WWE. If nothing else, at least announcers like Michael Cole and Wade Barrett should be talking about the 'Final Boss'.
