WWE Battleground 2015: 10 Things We Learned

3. Cena vs. Owens Works Even On Repeat

At Battleground, John Cena and Kevin Owens engaged in what was their third straight Pay-Per-View match. Not counting 'The Beast In The East' (which was a one-off and felt more like a special event rather than one which existed to promote main roster storylines), Cena and Owens have faced one another on each major PPV consecutively since Elimination Chamber on May 31st.

If this had been, say, John Cena vs. The Big Show, fans would have long tired of watching bout after bout of the same, but that simply cannot be said for Cena vs. Kevin Owens. The former NXT Heavyweight Champ was gunning for the United States Title at Battleground, and that offered just enough of a carrot for fans to become invested once again.

If that wasn't enough, the action was hot and heavy once the bell started ringing, and it's clear that both men have significant chemistry with one another. There's doubts over whether or not yet another supershow collision between them could work at SummerSlam, but maybe if there's a gimmick or stipulation tacked on, it could be satisfying. Whatever the case, working 3 consecutively brilliant Pay-Per-View matches is hard to do in 2015, but these guys managed it.
