WWE Clash In Italy 2026: 8 Things That NEED To Happen
1. Gunther Wins The WWE Title
BOOM!
Cody Rhodes reclaimed the WWE Title from Drew McIntyre on the 6 March SmackDown, then successfully survived some Randy Orton and Pat McAfee attacks heading into WrestleMania 42. Since living to fight another day and fending off TKO's meddling, Cody has somehow restored a babyface feeling which seemed lost for good, and he deserves huge praise for it.
However, Gunther is on a tear himself after ending the careers of Bill Goldberg, John Cena and AJ Styles then beating Seth Rollins at 'Mania. The 'Ring General' was swiftly moved from Raw to SmackDown so he could challenge Cody, and now...he should win the big belt outright. That'd make Clash In Italy historic and memorable.
Rhodes will be fine even without the top prize (at least for now). Also, Gunther becoming the focal point on Friday nights would shake things up on SmackDown and give the show a different identity. It's been 'The Cody Show' for a little too long now, and that's true whether he's been able to quieten jeers or not.
Gunther becoming WWE Champion would set him up nicely for a rematch with Rhodes at Night Of Champions or SNME, then he could turn his attentions to Brock Lesnar in time for SummerSlam. Y'know, assuming Brock isn't tangling with Oba for a third time on that card.
New champ incoming? Don't bet against it.
