It's been said that a veteran like Chris Jericho doesn't really require victories in order to retain his aura. At this point in time, Jericho will never lose his connection with fans, certainly those over a certain age. Therefore, wins and losses don't impact on him as much as they do some others on the active roster.

Sami Zayn is a classic example of that, the former nemesis of Kevin Owens badly needs to start stringing together a victory or two. Recently, Zayn has been used as ideal fodder for those heels WWE have much more interest in pushing. That simply can't continue if management wants Sami to remain relevant.

A win over Jericho could feasibly springboard Zayn back into the limelight. It's funny that fans chant 'Fight Forever' whenever Sami faces KO, because there's definite room to squeeze another Raw main event out of the pair.

Realistically, Sami Zayn could only challenge Kevin Owens for the WWE Universal Title (even for a TV headliner) if he had beaten his running buddy Chris Jericho. This means a babyface win must occur.
