WWE Draft 2025: Everything Has Gone Quiet... (WWE News)

It looks like Triple H might've wiped the planned 2025 WWE Draft from existence.

Bodyslam.net's Patreon has reported (via PWInsider) that things have gone quiet on plans for the 2025 WWE Draft. According to PWInsider, they "haven't heard a word" about what the company has in store for it, if anything. Previously, it had looked certain that WWE would hold another Draft after SummerSlam.

The general idea was that they could use it as a means to build up and promote special episodes of Raw and SmackDown in September, but that's up in the air now. Triple H and other bosses might've changed their minds on holding an official roster shakeup at all. Instead, it looks like they'll switch talent between both major brands whenever they like - the recent LA Knight to Raw and Sami Zayn to SmackDown shift is a great example of that.

Truthfully, WWE has workers appear on 'the other show' all year round anyway. There rarely appears to be any rhyme or reason to it, and they're always looking for an out. This year's "Transfer Window" sums that up. During that unspecified window, the creative team reshuffled their deck and changed a lot that'd happened during the latest official Draft in April 2024.

On occasion, Raw GM Adam Pearce and SmackDown counterpart Nick Aldis announce one night trades to keep things interesting and justify why red team members show up on the blue side and vice versa. It's messy, but it seems to be the way WWE fancies handling things.

Opinion: It's Time To Commit Or Cut With WWE's Draft

A serious conversation must be had about the Draft's future purpose.

Triple H has to either commit to locking in Raw and SmackDown rosters for at least a year, or just cut the thing from schedules completely. It's no use to heavily hype "ironclad" decisions then go back on them quickly. Sometimes, WWE has even rubbished their own ideas within a few short weeks of the Draft, and that makes it impossible for fans to care about the thing.

Further, the bone dry way they feed Draft choices to fans on those special editions of Raw and SmackDown needs a rethink. It's frankly boring to have Hunter, Stephanie McMahon or various other legends come out onto the stage with cue cards before announcing picks in sequence. There's nothing exciting about that format, which is a real problem.

Being brutally honest, most fans just flat out don't care who's going where, because they know the writers will ignore it soon enough anyway. As if that's not enough, more recent Drafts have announced that countless high profile wrestlers are staying on the same brand.

It's hardly thrilling, so avoiding a 2025 Draft and just going back to a general roster might be the best way forwards heading into the new year.
