5. The New Day's Match Needed A Medium Between Comedy And Wrestling
The New Day are absolute gold in the ring, and this occasion was no different. Woods, with a new and improved trombone in hand, supported his unicorn brethren, Kofi Kingston and Big E as they defended the WWE Tag-Team Titles against the Dudley Boyz, who were returning to Dublin for the first time in ten years as part of a WWE tour. Woods, Big E and Kingston were hilarious as always, but it did feel like the match could have done with a lot more action. The pace picked up after a while, but most of the match was filled with banter between The New Day. It would have been good if it culminated in someone being put through a table, but this was only teased for the time being. This issue doesnt come across on television, and the crowd were really involved in the match with the New Day Sucks/Rocks clapping and chanting, but a bit more wrestling would have made it perfect. There was a moment before the finish, however, where Kofi Kingston went for a springboard attack, fumbled and fell flat on his face, which was pretty hysterical, but it blended in so nicely with the roll-up finish to give The New Day the upset victory, that I honestly didnt know if it was a work or a legitimate botch with expert improvisation. Either way is fine, because it all unfolded rather nicely in the ring. The New Day retained, as one would expect, but the 3D delivered to Xavier Woods post-match was great and was enough to sustain Bubba and D-Von before they inevitably win the WWE Tag-Team Titles once again. The question isnt if, but when, and that moment could come very soon.
