WWE Elimination Chamber 2023: 10 Nightmares That Could Come True

Could Elimination Chamber be Triple H's first major WWE pay-per-view flop?!

Every WWE fan walking the planet could be pardoned for getting down on their hands and knees, clasping their hands and saying a little prayer that Triple H won't drop the ball on Sami Zayn's unlikely push. It's been one of the best things about pro wrestling since Zayn began this Bloodline journey, and there's no turning back now.

Or...is there?

Cody Rhodes is waiting for Roman Reigns at WrestleMania 39, and that means poor Sami is going into Elimination Chamber as little more than a sacrificial lamb - he's a speed bump challenger for the champion, and everyone knows it. Still, people want to believe that WWE will do right by Zayn.

You know the drill by now. There's zero room for chirpy positivity here. This is the absolute worst that could happen on WWE's next PLE, and that includes Sami being made to look more chump than champ. Elsewhere, the company might find out firsthand that the pay-per-view's central gimmick is a fading beast that really doesn't deserve the annual supershow treatment any longer.

Here's everything that should keep you up on Friday night ahead of Saturday's special.

10. Triple H Adds An Exhibition Title Defence

WWE has five matches lined up for Chamber; two of them are the titular gimmick bouts, then there's a mixed tag and two other singles matches. In theory, this shouldn't be some four-hour epic unless the promotion packs in loads of mid-PPV video packages (those random superstar vignettes are becoming a time-killing trend).

Or, maybe Trips will plonk another match on the card. He could hand Charlotte Flair a routine, exhibition-style title defence, or let Damage CTRL retain their Women's Tag belts in another nothing clash. That'd be a nightmare for anyone watching, because five purpose-filled matches is waaaay better than five interesting scenarios and then something better-housed on Raw or SmackDown.

Also, babyface Charlotte just isn't working. She's painful to watch in this role, and a SmackDown Women's Title defence vs. someone like Emma or Sonya Deville would be a quite useless addition to Saturday's card.

Please say this isn't going to happen.
