WWE Files Trademark For Possible New SmackDown Stable
Brace yourselves for a brand new heel faction on WWE SmackDown soon...
WWE has filed to trademark "Maximum Male Models".
Fightful reports that the company actually posted two applications for the copyright on 23 May. If successful, it appears "Maximum Male Models" will be the name of a new faction headed up by ex-NXT star LA Knight on SmackDown going forwards.
Knight was repackaged as Max Dupri on last week's episode of blue brand telly - he appeared in a backstage skit with authority figure Adam Pearce, and even mentioned the prospective new stable by name. Pearce said that Dupri's talent contract had been signed with now-ousted authority Sonya Deville, so there is a chance that WWE booked an out there.
They're expected to be successful with the trademark bid though.
Dupri, as Knight, had previously dabbled with adding both Mace (who was renamed Face) and Mansoor to his midst during pre-show dark match segments before SmackDown aired. These were worked in front of live crowd to gauge reactions from fans.
So, there you go, the re-dubbed Max Dupri will be heading up a group called "Maximum Male Models" on SmackDown soon. Or, if WWE don't use that name, they'll surely tweak the idea to something else.
