Then: You've got to give the wee man credit: Hornswoggle made the absolute most of his run in WWE. He tried his best with everything the writers handed to him (no matter how bad it was - like 2007's 'Hornswoggle McMahon' substitute), and he knew his role. Swoggle was there to entertain families and either clown himself or garner sympathy.

Still, there weren't many happy faces when lil' Horny returned to action during the Greatest Royal Rumble. Fans had witnessed his Rumble hijinks before, so it felt tired. Gee, wonder what Swoggle will get up to? Puff out his chest and match up to somebody in the bout, hide under the ring or get involved in some comedy spots.

It was all rinse and repeat. There was no need to book another cameo spot like this, but he lasted 60 seconds before being ousted by Dolph Ziggler and Tony Nese. 'Team Abs' got the last laugh.

Now: Hornswoggle has worked his butt off on the independent scene since his mainline WWE run ended in 2016. Further, he's also made appearances in TNA, ROH and AEW, but nothing has stuck the way WWE did. There, against all the odds, Swoggs (his friends call him Swoggs*) enjoyed a decade long stint.

Away from the ring, Hornswoggle has taken issue with actor Peter Dinklage's behaviour and comments. He's shown up well on TV when talking about things Dinklage has said about similarly sized performers, and he's even defended his right to call himself whatever he pleases into the bargain.

*They don't.
