WWE Hall Of Fame 2014: 10 Candidates For Induction
5. Diamond Dallas Page
Yo, it's him, it's him, it's DDP. With his hugely successful DDP Yoga program (which WWE actually let him plug on Raw), his positive influence on the lives of Jake Roberts and Scott Hall and the fact that he seems to be in the good graces of WWE again, expect DDP to get the call to the Hall within the next few years. Could this be the one? Yes, Page had an infamously awful run in WWE during the Invasion angle. He's the only wrestler in history who had to job to The Undertaker's wife, after all. But enough time has passed where the company can look at his other accomplishments, such as being a three time (Three time! Three time!) WCW Heavyweight Champion. His feud with Randy Savage was one of the best of the 90s, and only Sting and Goldberg had bigger babyface runs in WCW when the company was on top. Page should also be considered for the against-all-odds story he has just to make it in wrestling. He originally broke in as a manager in his 30s, and didn't win the World Heavyweight Title until he was in his 40s. No one has ever quite had the career that he did. With Page's popularity outside of the wrestling world, and his hand in the amazing transformations of Hall and Roberts, he'd make for a great induction.
As Rust Cohle from True Detective said "Life's barely long enough to get good at one thing. So be careful what you're good at."
Sadly, I can't solve a murder like Rust...or change a tire, or even tie a tie. But I do know all the lyrics to Hulk Hogan's "Real American" theme song and can easily name every Natural Born Thriller from the dying days of WCW. I was once ranked 21st in the United States in Tetris...on the Playstation 3 version...for about a week.
