With WWE clearly in major need of a creative shake-up behind the scenes, Vince McMahon’s sports entertainment juggernaut has brought in Christine Lubrano as the company’s new Senior Vice President of Creative Writing Operations.

WWE took to Twitter to confirm the news.

Having worked in the TV industry as far back as 2004, Lubrano has written and produced on shows such as The Increasingly Poor Decision of Todd Margaret, Portlandia, Maron, Documentary Now!, and Comedy Bang! Bang! – which, of course, all have absolutely zero to do with the world of professional wrestling.

Recent years have seen WWE continuously lambasted for bringing in writers and creative minds who have no experience whatsoever in wrestling (or sports entertainment, if you will).

While having the odd set of fresh eyes that’s able to provide an alternative viewpoint could be of benefit to WWE, the company’s latest recruitment video bizarrely featured over 30 writers all loudly and proudly proclaiming how their background and experiences are in anything but professional wrestling.

Hopefully Christine Lubrano is able to bring a new sense of direction or creative spark to WWE programming – particularly to Raw – although we all ultimately know that Lubrano could bring the most ingenious ideas to the table, yet it all comes down to Vince McMahon as to what makes it to WWE TV.
