WWE is interested in signing rising independent wrestling star Alex Zayne, reports Fightful Select.

Sources within Vince McMahon’s promotion noted that Zayne is on the promotion’s radar. Best known for his work in Game Changer Wrestling, the up-and-comer competes in what has been described as his “FINAL Indie Match” for the group this weekend, though his opponent is yet to be confirmed.

As well as breaking out in GCW, Zayne has also featured on NJPW’s weekly US-based show, STRONG, which is where he caught WWE’s eye. This is in line with a report earlier this week stating that WWE had been looking at wrestlers featured on NJPW STRONG and AEW Dark as potential signing targets, having already scooped Ben Carter up from under AEW’s nose.

Zayne is an exciting high-flyer whose breakout began last year, as he became one of the many beneficiaries of the great independent clearout, with WWE, AEW, and other promotions rushing to sign much of the scene’s top talent. He has since become well-established in GCW, BLP, and other organisations, and even worked an Impact Wrestling appearance back in October 2019, though nothing came of this.
