WWE Night Of Champions 2025: 7 Nightmares That Could Come True
2. Title Rematch Is A Huge Disappointment
John Cena vs. CM Punk is the kind of match that makes millions of wrestling fans sit back in their chairs, take a deep breath and mutter: 'That's the good life'. Back in 2011, the pair had one of the most atmospheric pay-per-view main events in history at Money In The Bank, and they followed it up with more greatness inside the ring on PPV and on free television after that. Oh yes, Punk and Cena go together like cold mornings and a hot cup of coffee.
2025 might just spill that red hot liquid right down your chin.
Punk seems determined to show he's as good as ever inside the ring, but he isn't superhuman. Similarly, Cena's recent efforts against the likes of Cody Rhodes and Randy Orton on major PLEs have been less-than compared to some of his prior work. Maybe that's just age or ring rust catching up with him, or perhaps things just aren't clicking during this retirement tour. Either way, nothing is guaranteed come the duo's next match at Night Of Champs.
Let's face it, a lot of fans will go into this one full of anticipation and believing they're about to turn the clock back to an iconic 'Summer Of Punk' 14 years ago. Then, reality may bite as everyone realises that it's 2025 and these dudes can't clash the way they once clashed at MITB, SummerSlam or on memorable episodes of Raw.
Temper your expectations - that's all this guy is saying. Hopefully, we're in for a pleasant surprise rollercoaster ride and not a jaunt on some stormy funfair teacups.
