WWE No Way Out In Review - Title Matches Save Lacklustre PPV
WWE Intercontinental Match - Christian vs Cody RhodesThis match had some good back and forth from both men. Christian can always put on a good show with almost anyone and being the Intercontinental Champion removes him from his previous, whining alter ego. Although Cody lost the match he was still made to look strong by kicking out of Christian's finisher the Killswitch. In the end Captain Charisma got the win with The Spear. Throughout the match the announce team put over how Christian had given up whining after inducting his best friend into the Hall of Fame, that seeing everything Edge had accomplished through his own determination changed his own will and direction. This was a nice explanation for the immediately stopped 'One More Match' gimmick Christian was unfortunately lumbered with. In Brief: A fair bout that allowed Rhodes to look strong and Christian to elevate himself as the Intercontinental Champion by getting the clean win. Epico and Primo vs Prime Time Players vs Tyson Kidd and Justin Gabriel vs The Usos - Winner Is The Number 1 Contender To The Tag Team Titles An unannounced Fatal 4-Way Tag Team match for the number one contendership to the WWE Tag Team Titles. It was nice to see such a match taking place on a PPV, with WWE attempting to emphasize the importance of the titles, however it all seemed a bit rushed. The Epico, Primo and AW angle could really have played out on either Raw or Smackdown rather than last minute on the PPV, but that's WWE booking for you. Michael Cole explained that the reason Epico and Primo were having to fight for a title shot when it was assumed they had rematch clause, is that their rematch clause had gone over the 30 days and they had inevitably lost it. The match itself was a fair but standard multi man bout, with the obvious big spots. In the end the match was ultimately used as a filler for the Tag Team Championship match that would have taken place (but hadn't due to R Truth's broken foot) and to set up AW with the Prime Time Players. The turn was well done if also a little rushed, but it got the desired effect and Darren Young's finisher was a nice spot. Let's hope that WWE intend to go forward now with All World Promotions. In Brief: Standard multi tag team matchup with the fast paced work and high spots coming from the usual suspects. Triple H - The Game Adresses Brock Lesnar Triple H's announcement was basically what every fan and their grandmother was expecting. As usual The Game delivered a decent promo which gave reason to anticipate Lesnar's reply and the match itself. Whether or not a yes or no is given anytime soon, the fact is Triple H vs Lesnar at Summerslam is on. WWE Divas Championship Match: Layla vs Beth PheonixA far more fluid and botch free affair from their last PPV meeting at Over The Limit. While the small comedy at the beginning was fun it did take away from the seriousness of the matchup, that the Divas Championship was on the line. Layla got the win though the ending to the bout seemed unexpected, especially by the lack of response from the fans and ultimately fell flat. The big question that needs to be asked is what was the point of the match? Layla isn't getting over with the fans while Beth is looking like a jobber rather than the all powerful Glamazon. In brief: A fair but pointless Divas Championship match that seemed to benefit neither wrestler. Click "next" below to read part 3...
