That plot in the match between AJ Styles and Roman Reigns set the scene for the next pay-per-view.

This isn't something people see too often in WWE nowadays, there's usually a mindset that things must be held back for Monday Night Raw the next night. Only then are fans given an indication what might happen on the following supershow.

At WrestleMania, it was anyone's guess where things were headed afterwards. The Undertaker and Brock Lesnar were likely to depart for a while, and Roman Reigns lacked a clear challenger for his newly won WWE Title. That show ended with more questions than answers, and not necessarily in a good way.

Payback provided some answers, making it clear that many of the feuds presented will continue into Extreme Rules. Reigns vs. AJ was announced as a rematch for that show before Payback was off the air, which felt fairly fresh.

It also seems that rivalries like Sami Zayn vs. Kevin Owens, Chris Jericho vs. Dean Ambrose and Charlotte vs. Natalya will continue.
