The past 2 Superstars to hold the NXT Championship (Seth Rollins & Big E Langston) have both been called up to the main roster while still holding the Title on NXT television. There have been recent, but as of yet unsubstantiated rumours that Dallas is to be called up to the main roster in January of 2014. They previously tried Bo Dallas on the main roster in January of this year, giving him a spot in the Royal Rumble, and giving him a rookie upset win over then Intercontinental champion Wade Barrett the next day on Raw. But after this promo, combined with Dallas' lack of babyface charisma and unremarkable performances, he was sent back to NXT quietly and not mentioned again. Bo Dallas is a very interesting figure on NXT, especially among the fanbase, both in the NXT arena and online. At 23 years old, he is still very young, and has been in WWE developmental since early 2009. He was previously pushed as as a traditional all American good guy babyface, a career death knell for any performer in the John Cena era. The fans at Full Sail, where NXT tapes their monthly TV (the same type of fans who boo Cena vehemently), saw right through it, mostly because Dallas wasn't very good at playing the role. He was getting a very negative reaction from the fans for a long time before he was turned heel, and began actively playing up the facets of his character which had garnered negative reactions. Though a very small number of fans do still cheer for him. His character now is akin to Kurt Angle in mid 2000, a cheesy outdated babyface oblivious to how people can not like him. One could almost read it as a meta commentary on the John Cena character, but turned up to 11 for intentional antagonistic effect. If he were to keep this character on the main roster, it would be odd for WWE to push him as a heel when they would have Cena essentially doing the same thing, trying to convince people to cheer him. But given the precedent of the NXT Championship acting as the ascension point to the main roster for talents holding it, he may likely be on his way up. Again.
