Remember when Jerry Lawler started hating on the RAW fans who dared bring ECW signs to the WWE shows or those who had the guile to chant those three infamous letters during a WWE main event? We believe that Lawler's contempt for all things Extreme was genuine but Vince McMahon used it for a small angle involving the low budget company he was secretly bank rolling in 1997 as a breeding ground for future talent. Thus the original ECW Invasion angle was born.
