WWE Release NXT's HoHo Lun
The former Cruiserweight Classic competitor falls victim to cost cutting.
WWE have reportedly come to terms on the release of NXT wrestler and former Cruiserweight Classic competitor HoHo Lun, according to WrestlingInc.com.
The 30-year-old grappler became the first wrestler from Hong Kong to ever join WWE when he signed last September. He defeated Ariya Daivari in the Cruiserweight Classic's first round, but fell to Noam Dar in the second. Lun then reported to the Performance Center, but he was barely used afterwards, even on the house show circuit.
HoHo's last televised appearance came on the June 23rd episode of NXT, when he lost to The Velveteen Dream in under two minutes. He was only ever used as an enhancement talent in his fleeting NXT appearances, and his release comes just one month prior to WWE's return to China - a country he moved to for training in 2007, and has wrestled in extensively ever since.
WWE are yet to confirm Lun's departure, but the move comes on the back of reports suggesting that the company are looking cut costs in an attempt to increase profit margins over the next six months, meaning he may just be the first of many releases.
