WWE Royal Rumble 2014: 10 Questions & Answers

8. What Should We Expect From Batista, Who Has Been Out Of WWE For 4 Years?

Batista1 He'll be ready for the spotlight on Raw this coming Monday and at the Royal Rumble as well. Even though he's 45 years old (birthday is January 18) he's always been a guy that has been in great shape. To expect anything less would be silly. He's likely been training for months for this return, so I expect him to look like his usual self. There should be some concern that he may not be in ring shape in terms of his cardiovascular health. It's one thing to look impressive and lift a lot of weights, but if he gets tired after a few minutes due to inactivity that could hurt his return a bit. Considering he's a guy that started in wrestling over a decade ago and has been through it all, it's likely that he'll be in top shape physically. He's a favorite to win the match. Any time WWE promotes somebody's return as much as they are with Batista it's for a reason. He's not just coming back to feud with a midcarder like Alberto Del Rio. That Del Rio feud may lead to a match and win at Elimination Chamber. For this show, though, Del Rio is just a guy for Batista to dispatch towards the end. For his sake, I hope Batista can stay healthy. As somebody with a history of injuries (especially muscle tears) it may be tough for him to last that long in the ring. Now that he's in his mid 40s it will be even harder for him to stay healthy for long periods of time.
