WWE’s 10 Worst Title Matches Of 2017

3. Bray Wyatt (C) Vs. Randy Orton - WrestleMania

Similar to the Owens and Jericho angle, this WrestleMania programme was imaginatively booked over a long period, only to fail to deliver when it came to crunch time.

‘The Eater of Worlds’ was riding the wave of winning his first WWE championship, and as his follower, Orton had become as interesting as he had been in years. His turn on Wyatt briefly changed fan opinion on what had previously been an unpopular Royal Rumble win.

What should have been a vicious grudge match playing up the heartless disposition of both men descended into farce. The creepy projections onto the ring was the type of theatrics one might accept at a ‘B’ pay-per-view, but not during a WWE title match at WrestleMania.

The Wyatt mind games ate into what was already a short encounter at 10 minutes, and with his sudden defeat - his third in a row at ‘The Showcase of the Immortals’ - his credibility was shot once more and we were left with another Orton title reign that few people wanted.
