WWE SummerSlam 2018: 10 Things WWE Got Right

3. Keeping Some Of The Other Matches Short

Finn Bálor vs. Baron Corbin and Braun Strowman vs. Kevin Owens weren't the only matches at SummerSlam that benefited from brevity. Elsewhere, Andrade Almas and Zelina Vega vs. Rusev and Lana was a snug effort lasting seven minutes on the Kickoff show, The New Day vs. The Bludgeon Bros didn't outstay any welcomes (it lasted less than 10), and Ronda Rousey's Raw Women's Title win was just four minutes long.

That was the ideal length for all of those matches.

Even the headliner between Brock Lesnar and Roman Reigns was just over six minutes in length. That's the best way to use Brock these days. When put in short, visceral blasts of bumps and drama, he's one heck of an attraction, so it was clever to use him that way on Sunday.

One of the top fears before SummerSlam was that it would drag, but it didn't. The four-hour main card whizzed along at times due to well-paced matches, some nice angles (Elias breaking his guitar and ruining his own concert, for example) and proper emphasis on the better, most interesting bouts.
