WWE Super Show-Down: 8 Things We Learned
2. The Undertaker And Triple H Can Still Deliver
When the WWE Universe first learned of the Undertaker/Triple H rematch at Super Show-Down, there were a lot of people disgusted by the idea. The pair's sensational match at WrestleMania XXVIII was the perfect exclamation point to their historic rivalry, and many were worried that a rematch would tarnish that. After all, The Undertaker hadn't had a great match in three years and Triple H isn't what he once was either. However, in spite of this, the two delivered.
Was this anywhere near the standard of their epic WrestleMania trilogy? Not at all, but the two did manage to provide us with a decent match that defied the pretty low expectations. It was far from perfect, but it was entertaining as hell. Its main strength, however, was undoubtedly the exceptional story that it told. Triple H was willing to do whatever it took to defeat 'The Deadman' while 'Taker wasn't going down without a fight, and ultimately despised the cheap tricks HHH resorted to.
Unlike with other matches, the crowd was completely invested in this, showering them with praise, "this is awesome" chants and standing ovations.
Though their best in-ring days are behind them, Triple H and The Undertaker proved that they are far from washed up has-beens. Though not a wrestling classic, the match was thoroughly entertaining and just proves that, despite their limitations, they are two pros of their craft and, without a doubt, still two of the greatest of all time.
