WWE And TNA: 7 Worst Moments Of The Week

3. Michael Sam's Invitation

WWE is scared. They probably should be, as the NFL is starting back up and Monday Night Football always steals some of their viewers. To fight off this attack, they want to stick it to the NFL, and show how cold and uncaring they are. To let the world know just exactly who the good guy is, WWE invited Michael Sam to Monday Night Raw, and were prepared to give him a live microphone to air his grievances. Whose idea was that? I don€™t watch football, and even I know that it would have made no sense for Sam to show up. WWE asked him to appear as a desperate publicity stunt. That€™s exactly what he would want to avoid so he can try and land on another team. Sam is the first openly gay player in the NFL, and some people believe he would be too much of a €œdistraction€ (whatever that means). Just like many thought he would, Sam was picked up by another team and now there€™s no way he€™ll show up on Raw. It€™s definitely for the best, as WWE clearly didn€™t even understand the story. JBL said they should have Sam on and have him debate NFL commissioner Roger Goodell. That doesn€™t even make sense. Why would they have a debate? Goodell wasn€™ the one who cut him. He hasn€™t even said anything negative about him! That€™s not how debates work! Well, now you€™ve got to feel for Darren Young. The man became the first openly gay professional wrestler in a major company and got...zero storyline support. The announcers didn€™t mention it, and he just continued to languish in the mid-card. Anyway, for a company that gave us Billy and Chuck, and Adrian Adonis they don€™t deserve to look like they€™re morally superior to anyone.

As Rust Cohle from True Detective said "Life's barely long enough to get good at one thing. So be careful what you're good at." Sadly, I can't solve a murder like Rust...or change a tire, or even tie a tie. But I do know all the lyrics to Hulk Hogan's "Real American" theme song and can easily name every Natural Born Thriller from the dying days of WCW. I was once ranked 21st in the United States in Tetris...on the Playstation 3 version...for about a week. Follow along @AndrewSoucek and check out my podcast at wrestlingwithfriends.com
