
It was announced this afternoon that WrestleMania XXX will be held at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome in New Orleans, Louisiana. WWE Chairman Vince McMahon, Stephanie McMahon and Paul Triple H Levesque were joined by New Orleans Mayor Mitch Landrieu in a press conference this afternoon to make the announcement. The press conference featured a plethora of WWE Superstars including reigning WWE Champion Dwayne The Rock Johnson, World Champion Alberto Del Rio, John Cena, Big Show, Mark Henry, The Great Khali, Brodus Clay and Divas Layla, Cameron and Naomi. Joining the Superstars of WWE were Alan Freeman (Superdome General Manager), Rita Benson-LeBlanc (New Orleans Saints Vice Chairman), Stephen Perry (President of New Orleans Convention and Visitors Bureau), Jay Cicero (CEO of Greater New Orleans Sports Foundation). In addition to the landmark WrestleMania event, New Orleans will host several events over the WrestleMania weekend. The annual four-day WrestleMania Axxess fan festival will be hosted by the New Orleans Morial Convention Center and the 2014 Hall of Fame Ceremony, Monday Night Raw, WrestleMania Reading Challenges and other events will also emanate from the city. This will be the first occasion that the Showcase of the Immortals has took place in New Orleans or Louisiana. The home of the New Orleans Saints has previously hosted seven Super Bowl events including this years Super Bowl XLVII, as well as concerts from The Rolling Stones and an address by Pope John Paul II in 1987. The current WrestleMania attendance record is WrestleMania III with 93,173 at Michigans Pontiac Silverdome. Its been projected that WrestleMania XXX will surpass this record with an estimated audience of 100,000. The pay-per-view event will take place on Sunday 6th April 2014.
