WWE WrestleMania 37: 10 Awesome Matches That Should Happen (And Why They Won't)

9. Sonya Deville Vs. Mandy Rose

These two deserve so much better than they received. The feud between Sonya Deville and Mandy Rose should have been on of the great creative success stories of 2020, establishing Mandy as a babyface hero and Sonya as a dastardly heel for the next couple of years, making stars out of two homegrown performers who were totally deserving of the success. Instead, the idiocy of criminals got in the way, and the whole thing fizzled out. Sonya recently returned to SmackDown and finds herself in a prominent position, but Mandy? She's no better off than she was two years ago.

The beef between Sonya and Mandy kicked into high gear in the silent surroundings of WrestleMania 36, and it should be resolved one year later at 'Mania 37. Whether that means Mandy vanquishing Sonya once and for all or the two coming full circle and reconciling through mutual respect is largely irrelevant, what matters is the stage and spotlight. Sonya vs. Mandy would also provide WWE with that rarest of beasts; a big-time women's singles match at WrestleMania that doesn't have a title on the line.

Instead, Mandy will be involved in a battle royal and Sonya maybe the same. The two should have been at the top of the table by this point, instead of scrapping for the same crumbs that they were in the early days of Fire and Desire.

Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man.
