WWE Wrestlepalooza 2025: 8 Nightmares That Could Come True

2. Brock Lesnar Squashes John Cena

Brock Lesnar's controversial return at SummerSlam got a lot of people talking about the rights and wrongs of it. Addressing things publicly, John Cena claimed that he's not responsible for everyone he works with during this retirement tour. His exact words were: "They deal 'em, I play 'em". Basically, Cena was explaining away the coming Brock match as more of a company idea than his own.

It is pretty hard to buy that 100%, especially given the history Cena has with Brock. It would, however, be rather difficult to rationalise the match at all if they're just going to repeat SummerSlam 2014 by having Lesnar rag doll John around the ring like a scrub before beating him soundly. This isn’t actually that far-fetched, because Cena might reason that Brock needs to look like a killer after his recent return.

Unfortunately, there are only 5 matches on this PLE, so a match that’s shorter than their combined entrances doesn’t sound very satisfying. It could work against Triple H if he goes this path. Fans in Indianapolis would feel shortchanged if this 'last time ever' showdown was a short squash, and it's hard to see where Cena would go from there during the last leg of his farewell series.

The risks outweigh the rewards.

Lesnar obviously doesn't need to hammer Cena to look like a threat heading into the final few months of 2025 and then possible marquee matches in 2026. He's one of the most physically credible workers in the industry as it is, and there's more value in giving JC a pleasing send off than feeding him to Brock like Saturday night is a decade and change back in time.
