WWE's 20 Greatest Couples

8. "Sensational" Sherri Martel & Shawn Michaels

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0UjoQc4neZ8 After The Rockers broke up, "the Heartbreak Kid" and future Hall of Famer was in need of some guidance. Who better to provide that guidance than the manager who had stood by the side of another memorable WWE showman, "Sensational" Sherri Martel? On an edition of Paul Bearer's Funeral Parlor, Sherri proclaimed that she had found "the man of her dreams," and soon began accompanying HBK to the ring. Gone were Sherri's flamboyant and gawdy gowns ... and in their place, assless chaps and ample cleavage. Modifying her own look to fit that of her new "boytoy," Sherri fawned over HBK and adored him almost to a fault; even when HBK would shove her down to the mat and posed over her. Sherri was WWE's first cougar before anyone redefined what the word meant and although she had always been considered a stunning woman, her association with the younger Michaels added a sexual charge to her appearance that hadn't been demonstrated by her before. The relationship ended suddenly when Marty Jannetty attempted to strike Michaels with a large heart-shaped mirror. Michaels pulled Sherri into the line of fire and the legendary Diva became the first woman to take a hit of such magnitude as the mirror shattered across her head! Shawn Michaels would later go on to replace her with another madwoman of the mat in Luna Vachon, leading to an intense feud between both Divas. Despite the difficult break-up, there is no denying that Sherri helped add some flare to Shawn's blossoming "Heartbreak Kid" persona. For Pete's sake, she even gifted us with the intro to his current theme song Sexy Boy (originally, she was the one singing the entire theme song, not Shawn). On the flip side, thanks to Shawn, some nice improvements were made to an old favorite in Sherri.
