7 Ups & 6 Downs From WWE Raw (2 March - Results & Review)

5. How The Mighty Have Fallen

One year ago, Lyra Valkyria was on the upswing, the inaugural Women’s Intercontinental Champion who was on her way to becoming a double champ by teaming with Becky Lynch to win the Women’s Tag Team Championship at WrestleMania.

Fast-forward to Monday, and Lyra and Bayley are an underachieving tag team struggling to get much more than a 45-second backstage segment and stuck in a six-woman gauntlet match for a shot at AJ Lee and the IC title.

It’s disappointing to see how this past year has unfolded for Valkyria, losing both of her titles and then losing her place on the roster. She was saddled with being a focal point for Bayley and her split personalities, which has mercifully been pushed to the background. Monday’s little segment with Bayley was a reminder that WWE has done next-to-nothing with them for months. In fairness, they’ve kept both women on television, so that has to count for something.

But it’s no less frustrating to see Lyra’s only path to 'Mania being another women’s tag title match, but this one likely will be a multi-team bout.
