7 Ups & 4 Downs From WWE Raw (9 March - Results & Review)

DOWNS…

4. The One Blemish

WWE Raw Raquel Rodriguez Iyo Sky
WWE

Raquel Rodriguez has been pretty well protected as a killer in the women’s division recently, so it was surprising to see her lose in the manner she did Monday night.

Entering the Women’s Intercontinental Championship #1 contender gauntlet match third, Raquel squared off against Iyo Sky and woman-handled her for much of the match. Iyo managed to get the upper hand with a hurricanrana, missile dropkick, and Bullet Train Attack, and she was setting up for her moonsault when Liv Morgan jumped on the apron.

The distraction froze Iyo for a second, until Stephanie Vaquer ran down to brawl with Liv. This fight distracted Rodriguez, allowing Sky to hit a diving cradle for the flash pin.

Just like that, Raquel had been eliminated essentially due to a distraction rollup pin. What a dumb finish. It honestly would have been better if Rodriguez had posted herself and Iyo beat her with her usual signature moves – a show of force, rather than a lucky roll-up because she was staring up the ramp.

This really was the only negative part of the entire gauntlet, but it deserved to be called out a bit here.
