6 Ups & 5 Downs From WWE Saturday Night's Main Event (13 December - Results & Review)

3. All About H

This isn’t entirely fair criticism, but it’s still getting leveled.

God help us all if something big happens in WWE and Triple H isn’t somehow at the center of it.

When Paul Levesque opened Raw for John Cena’s final appearance in Boston and launched into a lengthy introduction, it was a bit much, but this column gave it a pass. The two were career rivals and hadn’t really shared the ring too much during the retirement tour.

But on Saturday, Triple H narrated the opening video about Cena, tracing his career and talking about his connection with the crowd. Fine, but it’s baffling why, with a dozen announcers and vocal talent on the roster, Levesque needs to take on another responsibility.

Then, during the post-main event scene, it was Triple H and Stephanie McMahon leading the locker room to ringside. After Cody Rhodes and CM Punk presented Cena with their titles to hold them aloft, Levesque got on the apron to stand there – and soak in the boos from the all-knowing DC fans – before hugging John and pointing him to a video on the screen.

Levesque had to make sure that the brightest spotlight of the night at least partially shined on him.
