5. Super Smash Bros. - Master Hand Is Actually The Good Guy (Kind Of)

One of the most popular fan theories put forward for the Super Smash Bros. series is so sad that we should all hope that it's not even remotely close to the truth.

If you've been with the series from the start, you'll remember that the opening cinematic for the original N64 game actually depicted all of the playable characters as plush, stuffed toys rather than figures akin to those Amiibo statues (that have sent collectors into a frenzy) shown in later games.

So where does the Master Hand fit into all of this? Well, despite the gloved limb laughing maniacally as it reveals itself to be the game's final boss, many believe that it represents the hand of an adult who's simply trying to get their toys back so they can play with them once more.

Mario and friends see the Hand's advances a little differently though, of course - opting to kick, punch and fireball it to death instead of accepting the embrace.

Simply put, this is Nintendo's version of Toy Story.
