8. Lazarus

Whenever it was announced that writer Greg Rucka and artist Michael Lark would be teaming up again for this series, we let out a squeal of fanboy glee. We loved, loved, loved their collaborations on 'Gotham Central', a tremendous series from the mid-2000's about the Gotham City Police Department. It was fantastic and if you have never read it, you should rectify that right now. As expected then, given the pedigree involved, Lazarus is very good comic. It's a science-fiction tale set in a(nother) dystopian future, where a handful of powerful 'Families' rule, jealously guarding what they own and exploiting the Waste (the working class) who live in their sectors. Each family has it's own 'Lazarus', a super-powered, semi-artificial protector. The series follows Forever Carlyle, the Lazarus for the Carlyle family.
