10 Awesome Ways To Celebrate Batman's 75th Anniversary

9. Zero Year

Very few of the New 52 DC Comics titles have impressed like Batman's, serving as the rightful flagship comic in an expansive collection of heroes. Scott Snyder and artist Greg Capullo have the makings of an all-time great writer-illustrator team, and the storylines have gotten more and more impressive as time goes on - The Court of Owls presented a fresh and intimidating evil, while Death of the Family delivered the long-awaited return of the Joker. Zero Year is the Snyder/Capullo Batman origin story, the latest in a long line of "how it all came to be" Batman tales. But don't think that this is a well-trodden path - Zero Year is richly original. Snyder gives The Riddler top villain billing for once, with rogues old and new coloring the pages in between. The arc is nearing completion, with the third act "Savage City" underway, but it's worth picking up the back issues or the collected trades when they come out. Looking to Batman's roots is a good way to commemorate the 75th Anniversary, and Zero Year manages to recall and honor the past while providing a modern origin story.
