10 Beloved Comic Book Characters Movie Fans Hate

8. The Green Hornet

How do you ruin one of the oldest superheroes to exist in modern media? By turning their reboot into a half-baked comedy starring Seth Rogen apparently.

The Green Hornet is a legendary figure in the world of both comics and superheroes, having first appeared as part of a radio serial during the 1930s, getting their own comic in the 1940s, and appearing in the much-loved tv-series with action legend Bruce Lee as sidekick Kato during the 60s.

The comeback for a character that's related to the friggin' Lone Ranger should have been a cause for considerable hype and celebration, but things started to look off from the moment the first trailers dropped with actor Seth Rogen playing the character.

Playing up the playboy factor of the masked hero's true identity of Britt Reid might have seemed like a great way to maximise on the comedy, but then turning the Hornet into a bumbling and cowardly moron only served as a disservice to the character, and no one in the audience was happy about that or with Rogen's performance.

Despite being relatively successful at the box office, there was absolutely no desire from anyone who watched it for a sequel, and even talks of rebooting the franchise from scratch have stalled in the wake of how poorly the film was received the first time around.

Sam Ring hasn't written a bio just yet, but if they had... it would appear here.
