2. Talia Al Ghul Has a Child With Batman
When I first heard the idea of Batman having a child, I groaned. How could this possibly work? Sure, Batman had been around children before (and even helped raise a few), but the idea that Batman could have a biological child still seemed like it wouldnt work. Luckily, the genius of Grant Morrison was at play and gave Batman a new dimension to his character. Enter Damian Wayne: the son of Batman and Talia Al Ghul, the daughter of dangerous foe Ras Al Ghul. Raised by Talia and the League of Assassins, Damian is highly-trained and dangerous. During Batmans first encounter with Damian, he realizes just how twisted his views on life really are. After taking Damian back to the Batcave, Damian escapes, goes on patrol, and ends up cutting the head off of a local criminal. Tim Drake, the Robin at the time, explains that that is not the way that they do things. Damian takes note of this, and then promptly beats the crap out of Tim. Damian then steals Jason Todds Robin outfit and takes his place at his fathers side as the new Robin, which has had a tremendous affect on the Bat-family. This is a huge triumph for Talia Al Ghul and Ras Al Ghul, respectively. Not only does Damian tie all of them together by blood, it also offers Talia and Ras leverage in any situation. There is also always the risk of Damian being a secret agent for The League of Assassins and killing Batman when he least expects it. Batman is also left not only worrying about another Robin and the harm that may come to him, but the fate of his own son as well. It appears that Damian may be the latest victim of the Robin curse, as the latest issue of Batman: Incorporated sees Damian getting killed. If Damian is in fact dead, the triumph of Talia over Batman has only just begun.
